But here in the office we have a 6D and a Vixia HF S10, which has earned the name "Li'l Shitty." And that name isn't undeserved, given the quality of video it puts out. Well, that and battery life, but you can always hook it up to a power cable. The only reason I could think of you not wanting to do that is because of the 29 minute, 59 second maximum clip length on the T3i. And to make your workflow easier it shoots everything into MOV files. According to everything I can find, it shoots 1080p29.97 H.264, and if it's anything like the footage I've seen out of the T2i, 5D and 6D cameras, it's good stuff.

The part I don't necessarily get is why you're so hung up with the HF R21 when you have a T3i. Older versions of Premier, Final Cut, and Media Composer were not always the most stable when dealing with H.264, even though it was in some cases "officially" supported. Note that just because you can work with this material natively that doesn't necessarily mean you should. Another bonus is that Quicktime X can also read AVCHD natively and will even rewrap clips into MOV files for you. You should check and see what your editing software can do for you, it might make life easier. I believe that iMovie can also handle AVCHD natively.

Offhand I know that Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere will handle that media natively, and Avid Media Composer can AMA Link to it. However it looks like the HF R20/R21 are AVCHD cameras, so any piece of software that can speak AVCHD will do the trick.

I have no idea how to use it, but the manual for your camera seems to give you an overview. Looking at the manual for the HF R20/R21 PDF, it looks like you have two options on how to handle your footage.įirst is that PIXELA will do the trick. If anyone is knowledgeable about what I should download, I would be eternally grateful. I need ImageMixer™ 3 SE Ver.5, but I don't see it on the page under my model number, just a Transfer Utility. *EDIT: I may have found the download from the PIXELA site, but I want to make sure it is the correct one and will work before I pay $40. This has been good I've gotten a few gigs taking pictures, but now someone wants to know if I could film some interviews as well.

I originally bought just the camcorder, looking to upgrade to HD video, and was going to buy a second camera with the software, but instead decided to buy a Canon T3i, getting into photography. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I hope to get a gig filming interviews this weekend. Does anyone know where I might be able to download the transfer (and any other related) software? I've tried the Canon site, but can only find ImageBrowser, which I am sure isn't the right software. more info.I bought a Vixia HF R21 camcorder off of ebay about a year ago, thinking my old Canon FS100 software would transfer the video to my computer, but it won't.
